About the event: Innovating for Net-Zero – Digitisiting Transport
This will be the first in a dedicated mini-series of the World Economic Series, coinciding with COP26, to highlight tangible examples of how the application of digitisation can support different industries’ transition to net-zero. In this session, we will be joined by The Rt Hon The Lord Willetts, Matt Howett, Principal Analyst from Assembly Research, Ashley Lumsden, Director of Government Relations for Huawei, as well as leaders of industry and Heads of Mission from London’s diplomatic community.
Transport, which contributes over a quarter of all UK emissions, has a long way to go. But new research from Huawei published in this latest report, highlights that technology and connectivity will be crucial in enabling the sector to cut emissions. This launch will discuss exactly the role that telecoms can play in support transport decarbonisation and what steps are necessary to get there.
As the UK prepares to host COP26 this November, now is an opportune moment to take a holistic approach to cutting emissions. Only through utilising and sharing innovation and technology across all industries, will the UK be able to cut emissions at the rate necessary to meet ambitious government targets.
