Oncology care programme roundtable 3: Community Diagnostic Centres and local diagnostic pathways
We aim to explore how CDCs influence health and care delivery at the community level in practice, what role they could serve in addressing health inequalities and how this might be realised.
Description
Following our work on the disruption to cancer pathways throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and the publication of the NHS Long Term Plan, PPP launches Community Diagnostic Centres: The Next Step in Oncology Care to explore the rollout of CDCs to date and what they need to provide for industry, clinicians and patients. These discussions aim to align with The 10-Year Cancer Plan.
CDCs aim to increase accessibility to cancer care within communities. They also reconfigure diagnostic pathways throughout a patient’s cancer journey. We aim to explore how CDCs influence health and care delivery at the community level in practice, what role they could serve in addressing health inequalities and how this might be realised, incentivising patients to attend CDCs and exploring the attitudes of GPs to providing a CDC referral.
