About this event

Join PPP at the Conservative Party Spring Conference where PPP Chair Rt Hon Stephen Dorrell and Tom Tugendhat MP, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee will be discussing opportunities for UK Foreign Policy in 2021.

The World Economic Series has brought together Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Heads of Mission from the London diplomatic community since June 2020. Our purpose is to create a forum uniting the diplomatic, political and private sectors to discuss the global policy changes that will be necessitated by the pandemic. This session of the Series, led by the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, will provide an opportunity to understand how the pandemic has impacted the direction of the UK’s foreign policy. In his address to the World Economic Series in October 2020, the Chancellor of the Exchequer made clear that central to success of the UK’s post-Brexit, post-pandemic foreign policy strategy was the UK’s ability to utilise in full the twin Presidencies of both the G7 and COP26 in 2021. Tom will reflect on the importance of this dual opportunity, and set out his vision for how the UK might navigate the changing geopolitical tides as the pressures, both political and economic, affecting the world’s nation starts to take hold.
