World Economic Series: UAE
On the 2nd December, the World Economic Series will ‘visit’ the UAE to understand UAE Covid-19 policy in greater detail and how the pandemic has impacted the UAE’s economic strategy and priorities. We will learn how the UAE government has handled the pandemic and its ongoing commitments to public health, including its recent government restructure, whilst simultaneously supporting economic growth. The Ambassador will highlight opportunities for international business across the country and re-affirm the UAE’s commitment to free trade as it consolidates its position in a region whose stability will inevitably be further tested by the pandemic.
As the UAE continues its programme of economic diversification, the Ambassador has opted to showcase a new image of the UAE to the international community, highlighting its commitment to developing its science and technology sectors. Following on from the launch of the Emirates Mars Mission in July 2020, the Ambassador has invited Mr Omran Sharaf from the UAE’s Space Agency, the Mohamed Bin Rashid Space Centre. The Mission’s design, development and operation were co-ordinated by Mr Sharaf. Together, they will discuss how the UAE plans to build on the success of the Emirates Mars Mission and set out the long-term role envisaged for the Space Centre.
