PPP Specialist Series

Cancer Care Programme 2024

So many innovative solutions and technologies exist for cancer care, but getting them into the NHS and then scaling their application once within the system remains a key challenge.  PPP’s Cancer Care Programme 2024 will explore how innovation in this area can be better implemented in the NHS.

Cancer Care Programme 2024

Carrying on from our work on cancer care delivery in 2023, PPP and Partners will be exploring the solutions necessary to overcome the barriers to implementation so that clinicians and patients have timely access to the newest and best diagnostics, treatments, and care.

To ensure our insights and findings are comprehensive, PPP will convene ICBs and ICS leadership, Cancer Alliances, Diagnostic and Imaging Networks, Trusts, Health Innovation Networks, charities, Genetic Laboratory Hubs, the private sector and more.  We will explore how these organisations interact with each other, as well as how they work with the private sector to implement innovations at scale.

Over the spring and summer 2024, we will be hosting a series of roundtables on various topics within cancer care.  Such topics may range from using AI within the care pathway, ramping up access to innovative medicines, increasing participation in clinical trials, enabling community and at-home cancer care models, and more. The specific topics will be discussed and agreed in collaboration with our programme Partners.

Selected participating organisations for 2024 already include:

  • Cancer Research UK
  • South East London Cancer Alliance
  • Understanding Patient Data
  • Cheshire & Mersyside ICB
  • NICE
  • NHS South West Genomic Service Cancer Alliance
