PPP Webinar: recognising the escalating cost of wound care

In February, PPP held the first of two public webinars focusing on the topic of wound care.

On 26th February, PPP held the first of two public webinars focusing on the topic of wound care.

Reflecting on the key findings from PPP’s ‘Going Further For Wound Healing’ programme, policy report and Wound Care conference in 2023, the discussion and Q&A focussed on ideas for 2024 priorities for the health care sector in this area.

PPP Executive Chairman, Stephen Dorrell was joined by:

  • Christine O’Connor, Business Lead, Coloplast
  • Kirsi Isoherranen, President of the European Wound Management Association and Head of Helsinki Wound Healing Centre, Helsinki University Hospital
  • David Lawson, Director of Medical Technology, DHSC
  • Naseer Ahmad, Vascular Surgeon and Deputy Chief Clinical Information Officer, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Speaking about PPP’s Wound Care Conference last year, Mr Ahmad said: “I’ve been to quite a few conferences, and this was one of the first where we had such a multidisciplinary approach. We had people not only from nursing, but also commissioners and finance were there. We had various other people there as well. It was the first time where we had everybody in the same room, and we had a detailed discussion about how we can actually move things forward. I think this is one of the strengths of PPP in relation to many of the conferences.”

PPP’s second public webinar on wound care will build on this discussion on 25th March, 5pm.

Panel speakers include Steven Jeffrey (Pioneer Wound Clinics), Andrea Keady (3M), Alison Hopkins (Accelerate CIC), and Victoria Townsend (NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board).
