Professor Sir Michael Marmot
Professor Sir Michael Marmot is Professor of Epidemiology at University College London, Director of the UCL Institute of Health Equity, and Past President of the World Medical Association. The UK’s leading expert on health inequality, he has led research on health equity across the world for the past forty years. At the request of the British Government, in 2010 Professor Marmot led the ground-breaking inquiry into UK health inequality, resulting in systemic changes to the healthcare system. He is the author of several books including The Health Gap and Status Syndrome.
